What Is a Picross / Nonogram Puzzle?
A Picross (Nonogram) puzzle consists of a rectangular grid with numbers displayed along the top and left edges. These numbers indicate how many consecutive cells should be filled in each row or column.
- Each number represents a group of filled squares
- Multiple numbers mean multiple groups separated by at least one empty square
- The puzzle is solved entirely through logical deduction
When all rows and columns satisfy their clues, a pixel‑style image is revealed.

Picross, also known as Nonogram, Griddlers, or Paint‑by‑Numbers, is a classic picture logic puzzle where players uncover a hidden image by filling in grid cells according to numeric clues. Picross puzzles are easy to learn, deeply satisfying, and perfect for anyone who enjoys logical thinking and visual problem‑solving.
Picross and Nonogram are the same puzzle type under different names. The term Picross is popularized by Nintendo, while Nonogram is the generic name used worldwide. Regardless of the name, the rules and logic remain identical.
